Skipping Sunscreen

One of the biggest skincare mistakes is leaving out sunscreen. Even if you spend most of your day indoors, UV rays can penetrate windows and contribute to premature aging, dark spots, and skin damage.

What to do instead:
Always apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 as the final step of your morning routine. Reapply if you are outdoors for extended periods.

Over-Cleansing Your Skin

Washing your face too aggressively in the morning can strip away your skin’s natural oils, leaving it dry and irritated. This can also disrupt the skin barrier and trigger excess oil production.

What to do instead:
Use a gentle cleanser or simply rinse with lukewarm water if your skin feels clean from the night before.

Applying Products in the Wrong Order

Layering skincare products incorrectly can reduce their effectiveness. For example, applying heavier creams before lighter serums can prevent active ingredients from penetrating the skin.

What to do instead:
Follow the rule of applying products from lightest to heaviest: cleanser → toner → serum → moisturizer → sunscreen.
